What happened
The Women Leaders' Conclave (WLC) 2026 was held on August 13-14 at the India International Centre in New Delhi, organised by Stree Shakti with IIM Jammu as knowledge partner. It brought together 125 women leaders from 13 states, spanning panchayats, Parliament, academia, entrepreneurship and social change work.
What we know
At the valedictory session, the Dayawati Modi Stree Shakti Samman was presented to Senior Advocate Shobha Gupta, and the Vidushi Vidyottama Stree Shakti Samman was presented to Dr. Shashi Bala, recognising their contributions in law and academia respectively.
Why it matters
The conclave reflects a broader push to build leadership pipelines for women from the grassroots up, at a moment when the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam — which reserves seats for women in legislatures — is reshaping who holds political power in India.
