Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP)
National awareness and behaviour-change campaign (under Mission Shakti) to prevent gender-biased sex selection and ensure survival, protection and education of the girl child; no direct cash/DBT component.
Eligibility: Girl children nationwide; implemented via district-level multi-sectoral action, especially in low Child-Sex-Ratio districts.
CBSE Udaan Scheme
Free online study material, mentorship and resource support to meritorious girl students of Class 11-12 to prepare for admission to engineering colleges (IITs/NITs etc.), addressing gender gap in STEM.
Eligibility: Girl students studying in Class 11/12 in CBSE-affiliated (and other) schools, selected via merit-cum-means criteria.
Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihood Mission (DAY-NRLM)
Organises rural poor women into Self-Help Groups (SHGs), provides revolving fund, bank-linkage capital, skill training and market support to build sustainable livelihoods (incl. 'Lakhpati Didi' initiative).
Eligibility: Rural women, especially from poor and marginalised households, willing to join/form Self-Help Groups.
Free Legal Aid for Women (NALSA)
Free legal advice, representation and mediation support for women (regardless of income) as a mandatory category under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987.
Eligibility: All women, irrespective of income, are eligible for free legal aid under Section 12 of the Legal Services Authorities Act.
Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakram (JSSK)
Free delivery (incl. C-section), free drugs, diagnostics, blood, diet and free transport for pregnant women and sick newborns in government facilities.
Eligibility: All pregnant women delivering in public health institutions, and sick newborns up to 1 year.
Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY)
Cash assistance for institutional delivery to reduce maternal and neonatal mortality; differential cash amounts for rural/urban and low-performing states.
Eligibility: Pregnant women, especially BPL/SC/ST, delivering in a government or accredited private health facility.
Mahila e-Haat
Online marketing platform (bilingual) for women entrepreneurs, SHGs and NGOs to showcase and sell products/services directly to buyers, without middlemen.
Eligibility: Women entrepreneurs, Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and NGOs promoting women's products.
Nai Roshni – Scheme for Leadership Development of Minority Women
Leadership and life-skills training for minority women (Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist, Parsi, Jain) to build confidence and enable engagement with government systems and banks.
Eligibility: Minority-community women, 18 years and above.
National Creche Scheme (Palna)
Day-care facilities (crèche) for children (6 months-6 years) of working mothers, including sleeping, health check-up, supplementary nutrition and pre-school education.
Eligibility: Children of working mothers (employed, self-employed or seeking employment) with family income within prescribed limits.
National Scheme of Incentive to Girls for Secondary Education (NSIGSE)
One-time deposit of Rs 3,000 in a bank/post-office account (maturing at Rs ~4,000+) for SC/ST/other-eligible girls on enrolment in Class 9, to reduce dropout at secondary level. Now implemented as part of Samagra Shiksha.
Eligibility: SC/ST girls (and girls who passed Class 8 under Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya) who are unmarried and enrol in Class 9 in a government/govt-aided school, below age 16.
One Stop Centre Scheme (Sakhi)
Integrated support for women affected by violence — medical aid, police facilitation, legal counselling, psycho-social counselling and temporary shelter (up to 5 days) under one roof, in every district.
Eligibility: Women and girls (of all ages) affected by any form of violence, irrespective of caste, class, religion.
Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) – Women Ownership Provision
Housing subsidy/assistance for pucca houses; scheme mandates that the house be allotted in the name of the female head of household or jointly with her, promoting women's asset ownership.
Eligibility: Houseless families / those in kutcha houses as per PMAY-Gramin/Urban eligibility criteria; female ownership/co-ownership mandated where feasible.
