Who’s eligible

Unmarried girls aged 13-18 (K1, family income up to Rs 1.2 lakh/yr) and unmarried girls 18+ enrolled in education/vocational training (K2), residents of West Bengal.

  • Bank account passbook (girl's own account)

  • Self-declaration of unmarried status

How to apply

Online

  1. Log in/register on the Kanyashree portal (wbkanyashree.gov.in) through the school/college where the girl is enrolled
  2. Fill in the K1 or K2 application form as applicable, with personal, family and bank details
  3. Upload scanned documents (age proof, income certificate, bank passbook)
  4. Head of Institution verifies and forwards the application
  5. Application is processed by the District Kanyashree Cell; approved amount is credited via DBT
  6. Every year, the Head of Institution must renew the K1 application for continued eligibility

FAQs

What happens if I get married before 18?

The scheme is specifically for unmarried girls; marrying before 18 (which is also below the legal marriage age) will end eligibility for further K1 payments and disqualify K2.

Do I need to renew every year?

Yes, the K1 annual scholarship needs to be renewed each year through your Head of Institution.
