FAQs

Do I need a BPL card to apply?

Not strictly — under Ujjwala 2.0, a self-declaration (Deprivation Declaration) of belonging to a poor household is the primary eligibility document; a BPL card is not mandatorily required.

Is the connection completely free?

The connection itself is deposit-free; the government also provides a free first refill and stove under Ujjwala 2.0, though subsequent refills are subsidised (not entirely free) up to 9 cylinders/year.

Can a migrant worker without local address proof apply?

Yes — migrants can submit a self-declaration (Annexure I) in place of standard address proof.
